Dr. Unity Walker, an advocate with over 12 years of experience in LGBTQIA+ activism, has seamlessly integrated their passion into professional counseling. Beginning with advocacy at their undergraduate institution, Dr. Walker held key roles in establishing LGBTQIA+ support services. Their journey continued with a move to another institution, founding the office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. As a seasoned educator, Dr. Walker led classes, conducted research on effective care for marginalized clients, and supervised budding counselors. In their five-year professional practice, they've served the LGBTQIA+ community in both inpatient and outpatient settings, currently specializing in private practice. Armed with degrees from Auburn University and The College of William and Mary, including a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, Dr. Walker excels in trauma-informed care and treats a diverse range of issues. An Alabama native, they have returned to address local needs, offering dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and tailored therapeutic approaches. Beyond their professional commitments, Dr. Walker finds joy in community building, creative pursuits, and the pursuit of knowledge.
